E/R: COVID-19 FIGHT: PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES; BEST WEAPONS-MP TO DRIVERS


Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, member of parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and deputy minister of education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), has on Friday 24th April, 2020 toured all lorry stations in her constituency to sensitise commercial motorists on the need to observe all the precautionary measures rolled out by the government to combat COVID-19 pandemic.

"As commercial drivers, you are always in contact with people from all walks of life. This exposes you and those you come into contact with to health hazards of which COVID-19 stands paramount. Let us all abide by the precautionary measures instituted by the government during these pandemic times. Wash your hands frequently with soap under running water, use hand sanitizers any time you exchange money with people, use face masks always and abide by the social distancing protocol." Honourable Twum-Ampofo advised.

She used the occasion to donate a number of face masks, veronica buckets and hand sanitizers to the chairmen of the lorry stations.
Amongst the lorry stations she visited were, Akim Kukurantumi, Akim New Tafo, Tontro, Nobi, Old Tafo Akim, Akim Anyinasin and Akim Osiem.

On behalf of the drivers, the chairmen of the lorry stations expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the honourable member of parliament for always having them at heart and wished her well in all her endervous.

Meanwhile, the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly has made face mask wearing mandatory from 22nd April, 2020 until further notice in a statement signed by Mr Jeremiah Amoafo Agyekum, municipal coordinating director, on behalf of Honourable Owusu Twum-Ampofo, municipal chief executive.
